The Emergency Canine Care (ECC) Protocols

    These protocols were written to assist prehospital providers in developing an organized, comprehensive approach to providing canine care for SAR, TEMS, drug interdiction and police K-9 units.  Written by a Paramedic with extensive training and experience in the areas of SAR, High-Angle Rescue, TEMS, motivated by his relationship with his most loyal friend, Sir Sieger Wingfield (callsign: Sieger).

     A doctor of veterinary medicine, Dr. Randy Shinaut, was consulted throughout development and upon final proofing.  We have attempted to write a comprehensive, accurate, easily integrated set of protocols for the field Paramedic attempting to treat the injured K-9, typical of the SAR/TEMS/Police environment.
